York Membery is a London-based journalist and author. He’s a regular contributor to the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Sunday Times and History Extra among other publications.
Journalism
I broke into journalism after putting together a fanzine, Wired, in the late 1980s and went on to join the Daily Mirror pop page in the early 1990s. I’ve since worked as a show business reporter or feature writer on the Mirror, Express and Sunday Times, and contributed to the Evening Standard, FT and Independent. I’ve also written numerous travel features.
Public Speaking & Author Interviews
I’ve given talks about popular history to the Institute of the Americas, Kettner Luncheon Club and cruise ship audiences. I’ve also conducted numerous on-stage author interviews at events like the Arts Richmond Literary Festival, We Have Ways Fest and Jewish Book Week.
Lastly
In 2021 I graduated with a History PhD from Maastricht University in the Netherlands after five years as a part-time external postgraduate student.
